2. What ZenChime Stores on Your Device
The ZenChime Android app stores product data locally on your device so the app can work as expected. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:
- session configurations such as names, durations, cue sounds, interval settings, and background audio settings
- practice history such as completed sessions, guided practice completions, breathing practice completions, timestamps, and durations
- reminders, including time, repeat settings, linked practice, sound, snooze, and next trigger time
- settings and preferences such as theme, language, audio levels, haptics, notification-related preferences, and quick session defaults
- optional support history used for local product features, such as milestones, suggestion history, beginner-guide progress, and user journey state
- optional feedback you choose to save inside the app, including category, message, and any name or email address you enter voluntarily
ZenChime does not require an account to use the app.
3. What ZenChime Does Not Do by Default
As of the date above:
- no ZenChime account is required
- no advertising SDKs are used
- no third-party analytics SDKs are used
- no automatic crash-reporting service is used in the public app
- the Android app does not request general internet access permission
- the app does not send your practice history to ZenChime-operated servers
- the website does not intentionally use advertising trackers or marketing cookies
4. When Data May Leave Your Device
ZenChime does not automatically send, upload, or share your app data. Data stays local unless you explicitly choose an action that reasonably requires it to leave the device. Examples include:
- sending an email to support@zenchime.app or privacy@zenchime.app
- sharing or exporting a JSON file through Android’s system share flow
- saving an exported file to a storage location, cloud drive, or another app that you choose
- opening Google Play’s in-app review flow if you choose to rate the app
When you choose one of those actions, the destination and further handling depend on the service, app, storage provider, or platform you selected, and their own privacy terms will apply.
5. Optional Feedback and Contact Information
ZenChime includes an optional feedback form that saves feedback on your device. If you add your name or email address there, that information is stored locally with the feedback entry until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
ZenChime does not automatically send those saved feedback entries to ZenChime. If you want to contact us directly, you can also choose to email us yourself.
6. Permissions and Why They Exist
The Android app requests only permissions and system access that support core product behavior. These include:
- Notifications: to deliver reminder, session, and other app notifications you choose to allow
- Exact alarms: to let reminders arrive at the chosen time on supported Android versions
- Receive boot completed: to restore reminders after a device restart
- Vibration: to provide haptic cues
- Foreground service and media playback: to keep active sessions and audio running reliably in the background
- Wake lock: to keep time-sensitive session behavior reliable while a session is active
These permissions are used for app functionality, not for advertising, profiling, or hidden tracking.
7. Storage, Security, Retention, and Deletion
ZenChime stores app data inside Android’s app sandbox and uses local storage technologies such as Room and DataStore on the device.
- automatic Android cloud backup and automatic device-to-device transfer are disabled
- local app data is generally removed if you clear app data or uninstall the app
- exported or shared copies that you save outside the app are controlled by the destination you chose and are not automatically removed when the app is uninstalled
- ZenChime cannot delete copies that you deliberately saved in another app, mailbox, cloud drive, or device
8. Website-Specific Data
The website is a mostly static product site. It does not include ad tech or embedded marketing trackers, but it does use Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic visit statistics and page-usage information.
- the website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits and simple usage patterns
- Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP-derived request metadata, browser or device information, and page access events
- the website stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage
- the website does not use that preference for profiling or advertising
- depending on the hosting or security infrastructure, technically necessary provider or security cookies may still be set
- your hosting provider may still process standard technical request logs such as IP address, browser type, timestamp, and requested pages for delivery, security, and abuse prevention
- website-related technical data may be processed by the hosting provider and Cloudflare, including outside Switzerland and potentially in the United States, depending on provider infrastructure
Your local theme preference remains in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data. Hosting and Cloudflare retention depend on their operational configuration.
9. Third Parties and Platforms
ZenChime does not automatically share your practice data with third-party analytics or advertising companies.
For the website, limited technical data may still be processed by the hosting provider and Cloudflare for delivery, security, and basic website analytics.
If you install ZenChime through Google Play, use Google Play’s review flow, or choose another destination for an export or email, those platforms may process data under their own policies.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to processing, restrict processing, or request portability of personal data.
Because ZenChime is designed to keep most product data on your device, many of those rights can be exercised directly in the app by deleting data, exporting data, disabling optional features, or uninstalling the app.

12. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated if the app, website, product surfaces, or legal requirements change. Any update will be published on this page with a revised date.
13. Applicable Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by Swiss law. Any disputes arising from this policy are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Swiss courts.
